You’ve probably seen the videos of college students out and about partying during this national emergency. They’ve been out on the beaches in the clubs and bars partying away like 1000’s of people aren’t dying. Some of them have even given some potentially famous last words.
“If I get corona I get corona. At the end of the day I’m not gonna let it stop me from partying”
“If I get corona, I get corona. At the end of the day, I'm not gonna let it stop me from partying”: Spring breakers are still flocking to Miami, despite coronavirus warnings. https://t.co/KoYKI8zNDH pic.twitter.com/rfPfea1LrC — CBS News (@CBSNews) March 18, 2020
Morons. Every single one of them in this video. These people are infuriating. Half of them already look sick. The other half will probably get sick from someone else who is out partying.
They’ll take the disease wherever the hell they came from and spread it there after they’re done spreading it on spring break. That’s how COVID-19 keeps spreading.
Americans are the best at staying home and doing nothing. Now is our time to shine. Prove to the rest of the world that we can minimize the spread of this disease and maybe we can get sports back. South Korea had some of the most extensive Coronavirus testing in the world. Now after four weeks of self isolation and lock down their basketball league is starting back up.
South Korea has aggressively tested cases of COVID-19 and won praise for its handling of the pandemic. The country's basketball league now has games scheduled at the end of this month after a 4-week long hiatus. https://t.co/Jh0W5hZTYx — Michele Steele (@ESPNMichele) March 17, 2020
If the United States doesn’t take this crisis seriously it will just take longer for life to return to any sense of normality. The less serious we take this the longer it will be before the NBA and the NHL resume season. Hell if we don’t take this seriously now college football tailgating might be cancelled in the fall. I know none of these spring break party obsessed college students want that.
Take this seriously. Stay home. Stay safe. Taking Coronavirus seriously now is how we minimize the death toll of the virus. It’s ironic that if the death toll stays low so many people will say “clearly we overreacted.” Yet it will be very VERY apparent if we under react. So overreact just a little. Don’t freak out. Just stay inside and stay safe. By doing so you can be a national hero and guarantee that college football and the NFL can start on time. Stay inside and we might even get hockey and basketball back in the next four weeks. Fingers crossed.
Find something to do while you’re at home. This is the perfect time to read that book you’ve said you were going to read. It’s a great time to do some at home workouts. Any suggestions on how to stay occupied during this time are welcome. We might even talk about some of the best ideas in the podcast. Let us know what you’ve been doing to stay entertained.
